Join Us for Dinner on the Grounds

We will have a potluck lunch immediately following the 10:30 service on October 18th. Please bring a dish to share (enough for your family plus two). Also be sure to bring a lawn chair and/or basket or two because this event will be picnic style!

Beverages and paper products will be provided by the Fellowship Committee. If you have any questions or want to help with set up or clean up please contact Chanee Battle at 802-5974 or chaneebattle@aol.com. Hope you can join us and enjoy some Fall Fellowship.

The Dwelling Place of God

A few weeks ago, we read the Old Testament account of King Solomon dedicating the Temple in the city of Jerusalem. The people brought the Ark of the Covenant – the box that held the Ten Commandments – up to Jerusalem and placed it in the center of Temple. Then the glory of the Lord – the very presence of the Lord – filled the place. This was the house of the Lord. Now, the people knew that their building could not restrain or contain God. Solomon acknowledges this. Continue reading ‘The Dwelling Place of God’

Become a Fan of St Paul’s on Facebook!

The Communications Committee is excited to announce the rollout of a new St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Page on Facebook and is inviting all parish members and their friends to become a “fan” on the church (instructions below). Continue reading ‘Become a Fan of St Paul’s on Facebook!’

Sunday School

Sunday School starts September 13. We are using a slightly different format this year. Classes will begin at 10:00AM. Children will stay in the class until the offertory when they will come into the Church for communion and sit together on the front row. Final details are still being worked on and more information will be available in the bulletin. If you would like to teach this year or if you would like to help with the nursery, please contact Heather Guess at (803) 548-8620.

Education for Ministry

Education for Ministry (EFM) is an in-depth study of the Christian faith. In the EFM seminar group participants learn
about our faith and reflect on how that faith shapes our lives. The entire course lasts four years but is only committed to one year at a time. The first year cover the Old Testament. St. Paul’s will begin EFM on September 17th. The group will meet throughout the school year on Thursdays at 6:30PM. If you are interested in this opportunity for study, contact Rev. Sally.

Vacation Bible School Recap

Our Vacation Bible School, “Crocodile Dock,” was filled with rollicky good fun. About 38 children joined in the fun on each of the four evenings. For a summer program to run as smoothly as “Croc Dock” many people contributed their talents: Heather Guess, director, recruited team leaders, and had a zillion good ideas from decorating to mixing up the age groups. Altar Flowers

Each week fresh flowers are placed on the Altar. During the month of September we need someone to sign up for flowers on the 20th and 27th. In October, we need someone to sign up for the 25th. The flowers cost $53 and the gift of flowers is a tax deductable gift to our Church. Please sign up or contact Clare Hawes at mwhawes@comporium.net or Karen Rogers, our Parish Secretary, at stpauls@comporium.net.

Ushers Needed

The 10:30AM service is in need of more teams of ushers. It’s a great job – you get to greet everyone at the door, assist with the offertory and with worshippers coming to the communion rail, plus a few other tasks. Please consider serving a Sunday, and occasionally other special services. For more information, please talk with Otis and Lizann Lutz.

Youth Readers

Each week a youth in our Church has the opportunity to read a lesson from the New Testament. It is important to the leaders of our Church to include youth in the service. If you have a youth who would like to try reading, please contact me and I will meet with your youth(s) to see if I think they are ready. You may reach me by e-mail at janarnold@comporium.net.

Church Office Closed

The Church Office will be closed Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. Karen Rogers will be out of the office September 7th – 14th.
