Epiphany Bonfire planned for January 8, 2012

Please make plans to join us January 8th as we begin the season of Epiphany. We begin at 5:00PM with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, hearing the story of the visitation of the Wise Men. Then we share a hot dog supper followed by the burning of the Christmas Trees.

We begin our celebration of Epiphany with our annual bonfire at the Field Trial Barn on the Ann Springs Close Greenway. We gather to burn our old Christmas Trees (the real ones!). If you have never seen it, the tower of fire that these trees create is awesome! It lights up the dark night revealing the faces of all who gather around. This tower reminds us that there is another light who has come into our world – Jesus Christ. He is the light of God in our world. And he has come to reveal the truth to our world – the truth of God’s life and God’s love.

Join us for this year's bonfire!

2012 Stewardship Campaign Kick-Off – Saturday, October 8th, at 6:00PM

Mark your calendars now for Saturday evening, October 8th, at 6:00PM. St. Paul’s Stewardship Committee – with help from the Vestry – will host a dinner to kick-off the 2012 Stewardship Campaign. Dinner and beverages will be provided along with nursery care for children after dinner and entertainment. Yes, entertainment! After dinner, professional magician and entertainer Chris Hannibal (chrishannibal.com) will perform. Chris will have returned from performances in Berlin and London before performing at St. Paul’s. Stewardship Devotional & Talks

As a lead in to the kick-off dinner, the Stewardship Committee has a series of Stewardship devotionals available after the services on Sunday, September 25th. In addition, Stewardship Committee members will continue sharing their thoughts on Stewardship during the Sunday services leading up to the October 8th kick-off.

2012 Stewardship Campaign and Time & Talent Survey

The 2012 Pledge Campaign will begin with the Kick-off event on October 8th and continue through October 30th. Members who do not attend the Kick-off event or October 9th services will have their pledge information mailed to them on October 11th. This is a challenging time financially for us individually and as the community, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

The results from the Pledge Campaign will be a key component in formulating the 2011 Statement of Mission [SOM]. Please take the time to prayerfully consider and return the Stewardship Campaign and Time & Talent materials by October 30th.

A Note From the Senior Warden

Fall has always been my favorite season…I seem to get more energized as Church School, choir rehearsals and our monthly breakfasts begin again. Our offerings to be involved at St. Paul’s abound. We have two parish-wide events occurring in October – both on Saturdays.
On Saturday, October 1st, we will all gather at 10:00AM in the parish hall to package 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now. Your generosity toward exceeding our goal of $2,500 is an outward sign of our intention to “…Serve His People”. Any proceeds collected above our purchase of these meals will be donated to our own Fort Mill Care Center to help with its growing needs to feed the hungry in our community. Newcomers Class

New to St. Paul’s? Want to find out more about our parish? We have a one day Newcomer’s Class on Saturday, October 29th, from 10:00AM – 12:00 NOON. This is an opportunity to meet other people, to discover more about the Episcopal Church, and to find out how to get more involved in St. Paul’s. Are you wondering how to use the Prayer Book? Do you want to know more people at coffee hour? Have you been hoping to find out how to become involved in one of our ministries? Well this is a wonderful opportunity to find out more. If you need child care, please let Rev. Sally know and we will arrange for it.
