Our 50th Anniversary Celebration

On June 20th – 21st, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of our building. Episcopalians have been worshipping in Fort Mil for just over 50 years. A group from Our Saviour in Rock Hill began meeting at Wolfe Funeral home in the late 1950’s. But we’re not sure of the actual date. But we do know the actual date of the dedication of our building in 1959, June 21st. At that time the people of St. Paul’s were actually members of the parish of Our Saviour. St. Paul’s remained a chapel of Our Saviour until the early 70’s when it became a mission of the Diocese. So our 50th celebration is of length of time in which we have been worshipping in our building. Continue reading ‘Our 50th Anniversary Celebration’

Altar Flowers

Each week, except during Lent, our Church Altar is adorned with flowers. The addition of flowers adds so much visual interest. We would love to fill up the flower chart for the remainder of the year. If you would like to put flowers on the Altar to remember someone or celebrate a birthday, anniversary, baptism, etc., please sign up on the calendar in the Narthex. The flowers cost $53 each week, unless you want something special, and are tax deductible. Karen Rogers will get in touch with you when your date gets close to find out about your special occasion. If you have any questions, please contact Clare Hawes at mwhawes@comporium.net or at (803) 547-2552.

Bishop Henderson’s Catawba Residency

Once a year, Bishop Henderson goes to each Convocation of the Diocese for a three day visit or residency. Our Bishop will be with us in the Catawba Convocation on June 24th – 26th. During that time, he will be available for meetings with anyone who would like to see him. He will be available at St. Paul’s on the morning of June 25th. If you would like to meet with him call his secretary, Jane Goldsmith, at the Diocesan offices – (803) 771-7800. That night at 7:00PM, there will be a convocation-wide Confirmation service at Our Saviour in Rock Hill. Everyone is invited.

York Place Sunday

The Rev. Scott Fleisher, the chaplain of York Place, the Episcopal Home for Children in York S.C., will be visiting at both services on Sunday, June 7th. He will preach and talk about the ministries at York Place. York Place, a residential treatment center for children and youth, is an important outreach ministry of the Diocese of Upper South Carolina. York Place, and especially one of its residential homes, Hart Cottage, is an outreach project of our parish. Many of you have supported this ministry over the years. Please make plans to be present on June 7th to hear Scott speak about this important ministry.

The Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is almost completely funded by contributions from Parishioners and memorial gifts. The Altar Guild uses contributions to buy the Altar hangings, wine, torches, and all the silver to name just a few items that are used in the Sanctuary.

Many of the linen towels and pacificators that are used weekly are beginning to show wear and tear from the years of use. These linens need to be replaced. The towels and pacificators range in price from $20 to $25 each. If you would like to make a monetary gift to the Altar Guild to help purchase replacement linens it would be greatly appreciated. Remember these gifts are tax deductable.

If you have any questions or commits, please contact me via email at mwhawes@conporium.net.

Thank you for your support.
