The General Convention of the Episcopal Church and the Diocesan Convention of the Diocese of Upper South Carolina have adopted the Millennium Development Goals as priorities for the Episcopal Church. I thought this would be a good time to pass on to everyone what has been accomplished at the Care Center this past year.
In 2007 we received 3,769 clients and also had 262 new clients to add to our files. Out of our funds we spent $96,858 in utility assistance, $43,040 to help buy medicine, $12,118 toward rent to prevent a family from eviction and we spent an additional $19,490 in FEMA funds for the same purpose. Lent begins early this year, February 6th. Lent is a period of preparing ourselves for the celebration of Easter.
We prepare by self examination and repentance, through prayer, study of scripture, fasting, and self sacrifice. We begin with services on Ash Wednesday at 8:00AM, 12 NOON, 4:30PM and 7:00PM. Continue reading ‘Lent’
