Fall has always been my favorite season…I seem to get more energized as Church School, choir rehearsals and our monthly breakfasts begin again. Our offerings to be involved at St. Paul’s abound. We have two parish-wide events occurring in October – both on Saturdays.
On Saturday, October 1st, we will all gather at 10:00AM in the parish hall to package 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now. Your generosity toward exceeding our goal of $2,500 is an outward sign of our intention to “…Serve His People”. Any proceeds collected above our purchase of these meals will be donated to our own Fort Mill Care Center to help with its growing needs to feed the hungry in our community.
On Saturday evening, October 8th from 6:00 – 8:00PM, your Vestry and the Stewardship Committee, under the leadership of Ed Reuille, will provide an evening of entertainment and ministry information to kick off the Stewardship Campaign for the year 2012. Our whole Church Family is invited for dinner, a show by a world class magician (thank you, Chris Hage, for arranging), and information sharing about our ministries at St. Paul’s. After-dinner child care will be provided. I think you will be impressed with the opportunities to be involved at whatever task and level you choose.
On a personal note, I like to collect quotes that I find meaningful to me as I solve the “Cryptoquote” from the newspaper. The quote I am sharing with you is from Winston Churchill: “We have a living by what we get, but we have a life by what we give.” Please give of your time, talent and treasure as we move forward with our mission of “Growing in Christ – Serving His people”.
In peace,
Julia
