Sunday, July 19th, I returned home from my vacation in Hawaii. That evening I was in my back yard when I greeted my backyard neighbor. “I’ve been out of town for two weeks.” I called over the fence. “Were you at that meeting?” she asked. I paused for a moment, not knowing what she was talking about. Then I realized that she was referring to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church. York Place is experiencing financial shortages due to Medicare/Medicaid shortages. The loose offering and checks written for York Place Emphasis Sunday were designated for York Place on July 26th. If you missed this chance to help out, you still may participate in helping this important ministry of St. Paul’s. Write your check to either St. Paul’s or York Place—-but ***you must *** write “York Place Emphasis Sunday” in the memo field (or “for” field) of your check. Thank you for your generous gift. York Place depends on all of us.
On June 20th – 21st, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of our building. Episcopalians have been worshipping in Fort Mil for just over 50 years. A group from Our Saviour in Rock Hill began meeting at Wolfe Funeral home in the late 1950’s. But we’re not sure of the actual date. But we do know the actual date of the dedication of our building in 1959, June 21st. At that time the people of St. Paul’s were actually members of the parish of Our Saviour. St. Paul’s remained a chapel of Our Saviour until the early 70’s when it became a mission of the Diocese. So our 50th celebration is of length of time in which we have been worshipping in our building. Continue reading ‘Our 50th Anniversary Celebration’
