Sunday School starts September 13. We are using a slightly different format this year. Classes will begin at 10:00AM. Children will stay in the class until the offertory when they will come into the Church for communion and sit together on the front row. Final details are still being worked on and more information will be available in the bulletin. If you would like to teach this year or if you would like to help with the nursery, please contact Heather Guess at (803) 548-8620.

Education for Ministry (EFM) is an in-depth study of the Christian faith. In the EFM seminar group participants learn
about our faith and reflect on how that faith shapes our lives. The entire course lasts four years but is only committed to one year at a time. The first year cover the Old Testament. St. Paul’s will begin EFM on September 17th. The group will meet throughout the school year on Thursdays at 6:30PM. If you are interested in this opportunity for study, contact Rev. Sally.
This fall St. Paul’s will offer Education For Ministry – an adult education program through which participants learn more about their faith and how that faith informs their lives. EFM is produced by the Episcopal Seminary at Sewanee. It lasts for four years, but the commitment made is only for one year at a time. Over the four years, students study the Old Testament, the New Testament, Church History, and Christian Theology. Continue reading ‘Education for Ministry (EFM)’
On Monday, May 4th, we will begin a class teaching the basics of our faith and our Episcopal traditions. This class, called “Foundations of the Christian Faith and Episcopal Church”, is a good opportunity for anyone who would like to know more about their faith. It is a good way for long time Episcopalians to renew their faith. It is an opportunity for those baptized as infants to make an adult affirmation of their faith. And it is an opportunity for those new to the Episcopal Church to find out more about what it means to worship and live in the Christian community of the Episcopal Church. Effective immediately, Virginia (Jennye) Knox has submitted her resignation as our Director of Christian Education and Children’s Ministries. Due to Jennye’s resignation some of our children’s programs will change. We will continue with our Children’s Sunday School during the 10:30AM service. However, we will not start the new children’s program at 9:30AM that had been planned. Also, we are currently evaluating the curriculum to be used. We may not be able to use a program based on the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. But remember, during Lent, we will also have a special children’s program during the Sunday night Lent program.
We will miss Jennye. She contributed much to our children. However, even though Jennye will not be with us, our ministry to our children will remain strong. The vestry will decide the direction we should take for the future.
